Tech Talk: What is the RADIX system and why it’s the future of foiling

18.09.2026

Welcome back to another Tech Talk! Today we want to show you the near production-ready version of the RADIX system.

Did you watch our AWSI video last year? In that video, we shared the initial concept created with Core. Now, after refining the design, we are excited to show you how easy, fast, and stiff this system really is.

Innovating for maximum performance and efficiency

At Appletree, we are always looking for ways to push the sport forward and elevate the foiling experience for everyone.

The RADIX system was engineered to bring together the best performance characteristics into one seamless design: it delivers the incredible stiffness and clean water flow of a Tuttle box, combined with the full back-and-forth adjustability of a Twin Track.

It’s all about making your time on the water faster, simpler, and more efficient.

Key features

  • Ultra-fast setup: Just loosen two bolts, give it a little tap, and the mast is off in seconds.
  • T-nuts stay connected: The auto-twisting T-nuts connect directly to the mast foot, meaning there is no entry hole and you can’t lose them in the sand.
  • Preload carbon tension: The system uses a tapered fit that creates built-in tension (preload), making the board and mast behave as a single, ultra-rigid unit when operating under load.
  • Over-tension protection: You physically cannot over-tension the system. This is because the flange stops against the top surface of the board.
  • Lighter and easier masts: Appletree takes care of the structural reinforcement inside the board’s internal box. Consequently, mast manufacturers don’t need to build a big bottom pedestal, making masts lighter, cheaper, and easier to produce.

An open standard for the entire industry

RADIX is not an Appletree or Core exclusive product, our goal is to innovate for the whole community.

We are selling the boxes to any interested board brand and giving away the technology needed to build RADIX compatible masts.
Kyle from Cedris has been working with us from the start and will offer adapters so you can connect a Cedris mast and switch foil planes easily.

Our main goal is to keep evolving the sport, pushing technology forward so that foiling becomes easier, faster, and more efficient for everyone. Ultimately, we hope to make RADIX the new standard in foil boxes by 2030.
