About Apple Tree Surfboards

Apple Tree Surfboards is a premium, performance-driven board brand, designing and manufacturing high-end kite surf, wing foil, downwind foil and parawing boards. Originally from the Netherlands where we still have an office. All boards are now designed and built in-house in Portugal, combining advanced composite construction with deep, hands-on knowledge of board and foil sports.

From our base in Portugal, we run manufacturing, back office and marketing, while selling boards worldwide through a mix of direct B2B relationships and selected local agents. Our strongest markets today are the US and Central & Northern Europe, and Australia; we continue to grow globally.

We are a small, highly committed team with short decision lines, close collaboration between sales, design and production, and a strong focus on long-term relationships in a relatively small and personal industry.


The Role

We are looking for an experienced B2B Sales Manager to take ownership of Apple Tree Surfboards’ global dealer and distributor sales, based in Portugal.

This role is responsible for managing and growing our existing B2B accounts worldwide, while actively developing new markets and partnerships. You will work closely with the Brand Manager/CEO, production team, marketing team and external partners, while independently driving sales performance, relationships and strategy.

This is a hands-on role with a high level of autonomy, regular international travel, and direct influence on product development, pricing and market direction.


Key Responsibilities

B2B Sales & Account Management

  • Manage and grow existing B2B accounts worldwide (shops, distributors, agents)

  • Build long-term, personal relationships in a small and trust-based industry

  • Develop new B2B accounts and expand Apple Tree’s global dealer network

  • Actively support key markets, especially the US and Central & Northern Europe

Sales Strategy & Performance

  • Own sales targets and performance, with clearly defined quarterly KPIs

  • Contribute to pricing strategy, margins and commercial positioning

  • Provide structured sales reporting and market insights to management

  • Work closely with production on planning, feasibility, lead times and margins

Market & Product Feedback

  • Bring structured market feedback into board development and design

  • Collaborate with design and production teams during development phases

  • Support expansion of the product lineup, including boards and accessories

Internal Collaboration

  • Coordinate with marketing on launches, campaigns and sales priorities

  • Support budget planning together with marketing and management

  • Use and help improve our CRM setup (currently Notion)

Events & Travel

  • Represent Apple Tree Surfboards at international B2B events and selected B2C events

  • Regular international travel as part of the role


Who We’re Looking For

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of proven B2B sales experience

  • Background in sports, leisure, outdoor or action sports

  • Demonstrated track record of growing accounts and markets

Industry & Sports Affinity

  • Strong affinity with foiling disciplines (wing foiling, downwind foiling, parawing) is a big plus

  • Surfing background is appreciated

  • Comfortable speaking with riders, shop owners, distributors and agents

Skills & Working Style

  • Highly organized and structured

  • Comfortable working independently with full sales responsibility

  • Strategic thinker who can also execute day-to-day sales work

  • Strong communicator and relationship builder

  • Experience with CRM tools (Notion is a plus)

Languages

  • Fluent English (company language)

  • One or more additional European languages is a strong advantage

  • Portuguese is not required

Location

  • Based in Portugal, preferably near Ericeira

  • Willing to relocate if not already based in the region


Salary & Compensation

We believe in transparency and clear expectations from the start.

Base salary:
€38,000 – €45,000 gross per year, depending on experience and track record.

Performance-based bonus:
A variable component linked to clearly defined quarterly KPIs, such as:

  • Revenue growth in key markets

  • Account development and retention

  • New B2B account acquisition

  • Margin and pricing discipline

On-target earnings (OTE):
Typically €45,000 – €60,000, depending on performance.
