Fed up with kiteboards breaking, denting and generally lasting no more than one season, we started to research if we could make a board that is stronger and more durable.

What we came up with is a board that is better than any other wave kiteboard on the market today.

We completely re-invented the way boards are made. It took 3 years of research and testing to get to where we are today. We designed and build 2 CNC machines that are capable of shaping blanks the way we needed them. We sourced our own foam that is incredibly strong and extremely waterproof. The foam is fused with the shell using our unique technique. Using the U-stringer we have complete control over the flex pattern. The PET Honeycomb finishes the board, but it’s not there for looks, although it looks killer. It provides optimal dent resistance where you need it most.

All this tech is worth nothing in a badly designed board. We have a background in surfing and applied the knowledge acquired in building surfboards, to our wave kiteboards. The boards are designed to provide you maximum fun and control in the waves!

The boards are glassed in clear epoxy so you can look directly inside the board, we have nothing to hide under layers of paint! The color on the boards come from tint in the resin itself, it’s transparent and will never fade.

  • Hex Skin Carbon

    Our full carbon boards are stronger and lighter than anything we have produced before.

    The boards feature a thin, lightweight honeycomb skin over the whole deck of the board.

    Under the front foot there is a additional natural cork sandwich layer to minimise heel denting.

    Appletree Surfboards’ own custom carbon construction is stronger and lighter than anything we have produced before.

    Our boards are hand build one by one by extremely skilled craftsmen in our own factory in Holland, using the best quality fibers and resins available. The boards feature a thin, lightweight honeycomb skin over the whole deck of the board. This gives the deck a good resistance against denting and impact, but it’s not as stiff and hard as wood or bamboo sandwich layers.

    Under the front foot there is a additional natural cork sandwich layer to minimise heel denting. The board is wrapped in a precisely engineered buildup of pure carbon fibre. There is no normal glass fibre hidden underneath. The Fibers are running in a total of 5 different directions, to produce a board that feels extremely lively and gives a super direct feedback to the rider.

    The HSC construction is about 15% lighter than our Hex Fusion construction. It’s also even stronger than Hex Fusion to produce the most durable board we ever build.

    The HSC construction features the same waterproof foam core that is used in all or boards, so in the unlikely event of a puncture of the skin, there is no water penetration and the fix is easy.

    The epoxy resin used has a high organic content and the HSC, like all our boards are Sustainable Surf approved.

    Our Hex skin Glass boards are stronger and lighter than any fiberglas board we have produced before.

  • U-Flex Stringer

    The U-stringer consists of a high density foam insert wrapped in fiber glass. This stringer acts as a spring rod and runs only in the middle of the board, leaving the tail and nose to freely flex.

    To counter the strength of the Hex Fusion on the deck and to further control the flex of the board, we designed the U-stringer.   • Closed Foam

    Our foam is like no other. It’s not P.U. and it’s not EPS, It’s XPS!

    XPS is like EPS so it only works with epoxy resin. but it is different in that it does not contain the beads that EPS has, this means that the foam is completely waterproof! so no worries when you ding the board. just keep surfing and fix it later.

    XPS is notoriously hard to laminate, but our fusion tech makes it possible! Our boars do not delaminate!

  • Eco Board

    We’re dedicated to minimising our footprint on our planet. In our eyes the best way to prevent waste is to make our boards last longer. Because fewer boards produced equals less waste product! Of course we try not to harm nature with the waste that we inevitably produce. So we reuse the leftover foam as packaging material and the epoxy resin that we use is made up of 40 to 50% organic material. Checkout what the Eco Board logo stands for.
