We’re moving to Portugal!
You may have heard about it, but since it’s almost there we thought you all should know: WE’RE MOVING TO PORTUGAL! After months of preparation and hard work the new board factory is almost ready to use and we can’t wait to show you around!
First of all, I hear all the Dutchies thinking: “If you’re moving to Portugal, where can I pick up my brand new Appletree board?!” Well, don’t worry. We’re moving the factory, but Appletree’s office will stay in Holland. So we’ll be here for you to pick up your new board, testboard, have endless chats about surf and to answer all of your questions!
In 2016 we moved our shaping process from our parents backyard to the factory in Rijswijk, Holland. We had no idea how fast we would grow, but it had enough space to start and expand. After 1,5 years of shaping the idea of moving the factory to Portugal came to our minds. We were outgrowing the factory and slowly the demand became bigger than the production. We needed more space and more people: it was time for something new!
Our first instinct was to expand Appletree in Holland. But the more we thought about it, the more we found out we were looking for something else. A new adventure. Different countries came to our minds, but it was the idea of Portugal that we all loved right away. It has great surf, year-round good weather, affordable working spaces and a high demand of people looking for jobs. In short: all we needed!
Last november we finally got the keys of the (soon to be) new shaping factory. A huge two story warehouse of 500m2 located close to the surf village Ericeira. For 2 months we’ve been flying and driving back and forth to move stuff and to transform the shed into a real shaping Walhalla. We’ve been working our butts off, but we’re already super excited about the results.
We’re hoping to move the last parts by mid February and have everything done by the end of February. We can’t wait to show you the end results, and tell you everything about all the special new features of the factory. It’s going to be sick! Don’t forget to keep an eye on our Social channels!
To be continued….
