Zapple vs Zapple S – Which Foil Assist Board is Right for You?
29.09.2025
In this Tech Talk, Wieger breaks down the differences between the original Zapple and the new Zapple S. Two boards designed for Foil Drive, but built with very different riders in mind.
Zapple: More volume, more glide
The original Zapple is the most versatile option. With extra volume and mid-length efficiency, it makes starts easier, improves battery life, and offers smoother transitions from motoring to foiling.
It’s ideal for beginners learning to pump and for intermediates looking for glide and downwind efficiency. Also for advanced riders who want a more forgiving board for bigger surf or long sessions.
Zapple S: Compact and responsive
The Zapple S is designed for advanced riders who want maximum performance in steeper waves. Built only in smaller sizes, it’s compact and highly responsive, with a forward foil trench that pairs best with smaller, faster foils.
This board is not intended for flatwater starts or entry-level riders. Instead, it excels when wave power and foil drive work together, offering speed, sensitivity, and tight turning for confident foilers.
Choosing the right board
If you’re new to Foil Drive or want a board that covers more conditions with added efficiency, the Zapple is the right choice.
If you are an experienced rider looking to push your prone surfing into more radical territory, the Zapple S is built for you.
