Tech Talk: Appleslice V4 vs Appleslice V3
26.01.2026
The Appleslice has always been the heart of our wingboard range. It’s our most versatile board, our best seller, and the shape that works for the widest group of riders out there. Over the years, the Slice has evolved carefully, not because we want to release a new version every season, but because we only update a board when there’s a real improvement to be made.
With the new Appleslice V4, that moment has arrived. In this Tech Talk, Wieger breaks down exactly what has changed compared to the V3 and how those changes affect performance on the water.
What’s new in the Appleslice V4
Narrower shape and refined outline
The Appleslice V4 features a more refined outline, with a slightly narrower and more efficient shape through the bottom of the board. This improves acceleration, helps the board release earlier from the water, and makes it easier to get on foil.
While the overall character of the Slice remains familiar, the V4 feels faster and more precise, with a cleaner flow through the water during take-off and touchdowns.
Clear split in the size range
With the V4, the Slice range has been reworked to better match different riding styles.
50 to 70L
These sizes are designed primarily for advanced riders and sinker boards. Compared to the V3, they are longer and narrower, improving efficiency, control, and balance when starting submerged. This makes them more predictable and easier to manage during sinker starts, while remaining highly responsive once on foil.
80 to 115L
From 80L upwards, the boards gradually become wider to offer more stability and flotation. These sizes are ideal for riders looking for a forgiving, comfortable board that still maintains good efficiency and a lively feel. Despite the increased width, the refined bottom shape keeps drag low and acceleration smooth.
Refined tail
The tail of the Appleslice V4 has been narrowed and refined to allow water to exit more cleanly. This results in smoother release during take-off and improved flow through turns. On the water, the board feels more controlled and composed, especially when carving or riding powered.
Deeper deck recess and new volume distribution
One of the most noticeable changes on the V4 is the deeper deck recess. This improves foot connection and locks the rider into a more balanced stance over the foil.
At the same time, volume distribution has been adjusted, with slightly more volume placed toward the front of the board. This helps keep the nose higher during starts and makes the board feel more stable and forgiving during acceleration, particularly in sinker sizes and lower wind conditions.
Updated foil box position
The foil box has been moved slightly forward compared to the V3. This change better accommodates modern high-aspect foils and gives riders more flexibility when tuning their setup. Combined with updated insert positions, this results in a more balanced stance and improved control across a wider range of foils and riding styles.
What does this mean on the water?
All these refinements come together to create a board that feels smoother, lighter, and more connected to the foil. The Appleslice V4 accelerates efficiently, releases cleanly, and offers a more intuitive and predictable feel during starts, touchdowns, and turns.
The familiar Slice character is still there, but with added precision and control, especially noticeable for riders pushing their progression or riding smaller, more performance-oriented volumes.

Details also matter
Small details make a big difference in daily use. The deck pad now extends further to protect the board when rigging on hard ground, helping keep it clean and scratch-free over time.
Every Appleslice V4 also includes an integrated NFC tag. This allows riders to register their board, link ownership, and access direct support, while adding an extra layer of protection.
If you watch until the end of the Tech Talk, you’ll also hear Wieger introduce an important update to the construction that allows the board to achieve approximately a 10 percent weight reduction compared to the V3, without sacrificing strength, stiffness, or durability. This is something we’ll be explaining in much more detail very soon.
We’re really excited to be announcing the launch of this board, and we truly hope you love it as much as we do.
Cheers, and see you out on the water!
